As Executive Director and Chief Economist of the Central Bank of Somalia, I played a technical leadership role in Somalia's HIPC Completion Point process, contributing to more than US$4.5 billion in debt relief, reducing public debt from 65% to 6% of GDP and restoring access to concessional financing.

A long-term framework for Somalia's economic transformation
As National Economic Advisor and Member of the National Economic Council, I served as Vision Development Lead for Somalia's Centennial Vision 2060, directing work on macroeconomic stability, financial-sector reform and structural transformation.
The Vision provides Somalia with a long-term national development framework, linking the country's ambitions for peace, stability and prosperity with medium-term planning and policy priorities.

ABOUT
I am a development economist whose career has spanned central banking, economic policy, international development and academia.
Before my current advisory roles, I served as Executive Director and Chief Economist of the Central Bank of Somalia and led the State Fragility Initiative at the International Growth Centre. My earlier career included academic appointments in economics and finance at several UK universities.
My work brings together economic analysis and practical experience of designing and implementing reforms in fragile and institutionally complex environments.
